Local officials said the quake grounded three main airports in the area, making it difficult to deliver vital aid.
More than 12,000 people were injured in Turkey, the disaster management agency said, while Syria said at least 3,411 people were hurt.
“This earthquake was the strongest since the National Earthquake Center was established in 1995,” wrote Syrian media SANA.
Reported by AFP, Monday (6/2/2023) a combination of factors makes this strong earthquake very deadly.
Some of these factors are the time of occurrence, location, relatively calm fault lines to the weak construction of buildings that collapse.
